Elizabeth was the daughter of Albert and Sarah Nicelar.

She was born somewhere between Marlborough and Big Sandy, in what was Henry County, TN at the time, but perhaps in the area that became Benton County, shortly after her birth, as the family was living in Benton CO, TN in the 1860 census.

Birth is estimated from data in Elizabeth's civil war widow pension record. Elizabeth applied for a pension in 1906, and she state that she was "about 70" years of age at the time. In addition, census records indicate that her birth year was about 1835/1836. The age listed on Elizabeth's monument as "about 82" is believed to be incorrect.

Elizabeth married Archibald B. Chandler in Carroll CO, TN on June 22, 1860.

Elizabeth Chandler applied for a Confederate Soldier's widow's pension. Husband, Archibald Chandler, died in 1862, following his discharge from the 22nd TN Regiment, CSA Infantry, due to chronic dysentery and hearing loss.

(Elizabeth's birth location, as well as information about her husband's service, is taken from Elizabeth widow's pension application file.)
