"Kenneth L. Volkart, 76, California, Mo., formerly of Barnett, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at Capital Regional Health Center, Jefferson City.
He was born June 12, 1922, near Eldon, a son of Christopher G. and Adelaide Brady Volkart. On Oct. 14, 1941, he was married to Mildred Marie Bonine, who survives of the home.
Mr. Volkart was a 1940 graduate of California High School and attended Capital Business College, Jefferson City. He retired from the Navy as chief yeoman after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a job recruiter for Missouri employment security for 21 years. He also was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Hopewell Christian Church, Gideons International and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5902, Gravois Mills.
Also surviving are two sons, Tom Volkart of Lohman and Bob Volkart of Jefferson City; a daughter, Beverly Pethan of Jefferson City; a sister, Helen Milligan of Cole Camp; three half-brothers, Truman Volkart of Tipton, Harry Volkart of Mansfield, Mass., and Larry Volkart of Louisiana; a half-sister, Geraldine Volkart Glenn of Allen, Va.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hopewell Christian Church with the Rev. Jasper Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery with military rites at graveside. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral home, Versailles.
The family suggest memorial contributions to Gideons or Hopewell Christian Church."
