"C.G. Volkart, 61, Dies in Columbia
California (Special) - Christopher G. Volkart, 61, of near MeGirk, died Monday afternoon in the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia as a result of pneumonia and an abdominal infection.
Services were scheduled today in the Lebanon Baptist church with the Rev. George Fletcher officiating. Burial was in Sappington Cemetery, south of California.
Born near California, MO on April 2, 1897, the son of Godlieb and Mandanna Volkart. He was married in 1921 to Miss Adelaid Brady, who died in 1928. He married Miss Myrtle Boyer in 1929, and they were later divorced. In 1941, he married Miss Minnie Duvall, who survives.
He was a member of the Lebanon Baptist church. Mr. Volkart had worked as a farmer and a spinner in woolen mills.
Surviving, besides his widow, are four sons, Kenneth Volkart of the Navy, and Larry Volkart, Harry Volkart and Harold Volkart, all of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Claude Acosta of Kansas City and Miss Geraldine Volkart of the home; one brother, Walter Volkart of California; one sister, Mrs. Sophia Hill of California and 7 grandchildren."
