Mr. Allen is survived by his children Cindy (Kirk) Mason of Christiana, William C. "Buddy" (Michelle) Allen and Melissa "Missy" (Mark) West of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Jennifer Mason Warner, Jonathan Allen Mason, Timothy Allen, Matthew Allen, Ashley Floyd, Amanda Boisseau, and Alicia Beckett,; step-grandchildren Whitney and Will West; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Hettie Mae Busey Allen and brothers Bitsy Allen, William "Bill" Allen and Fred Allen.
Mr. Allen was a 1950 graduate of Murfreesboro Central High School and worked 25 years for Neal's Meter Service before becoming co-owner of Southern States Mechanical & Electrical Contractors, Inc. He was a former member of the Jaycees, served on the National Electrical Board, board of directors of the Murfreesboro Boys & Girls Club and served as chairman of the Board of Adjustments & Appeals for the Rutherford County Building Codes. Mr. Allen was a veteran of the Naval Reserve.
Mr. Allen was a longtime member and former deacon in the churches of Christ and member of the church of Christ at Mars Hill. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Mars Hill Church of Christ.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Memorials in memory of Mr. Allen may be made to the Mars Hill Church of Christ Building Fund, the Murfreesboro Boys & Girls Club and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, breast cancer association.
