Gladys Jackson Hendry
May 31, 1912 - June 16, 2013

Gladys Jackson Hendry, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16th, at the age of 101 years. Funeral services for Mrs. Hendry will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the First Christian Church, Wrightsville, with Dr. George Forbes officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the funeral service at Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 18th, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm in the Richard N. Stanley, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/ Wrightsville Chapel. Born and reared in the Donovan community, Johnson County, Mrs. Hendry was the daughter of Laura Jordan Jackson and William Jackson. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Grace Jackson Hall, her sister Vera Alice Jackson, who passed away at 9 months of age, brothers; Ralph, Elmer, Fred, and Forest Jackson, and, infant grandson Jeffery Todd Allen. Mrs. Hendry was a devoted member of the First Christian Church where she faithfully served as pianist from her early teen years until her failing health in her early nineties and was a member of the Co-Workers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hendry performed active management roles in her personal farm business as well as in other Jackson Family business operations. She was a member of the Georgia Cattlemens Club and the Johnson County Farm Bureau, and, was presented with the Johnson County Soil Conservation Award in 1973 for her excellent land stewardship. The family members wish to express their heartfelt thanks to Betty Cordy, Liz Johnson and Portia Daniels for the devoted and loving care they provided to Mrs. Hendry, and also, to Dr. Jean Sumner and to Hospice Advantage of Wrightsville for all that they have done. Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made to the Restoration Fund, First Christian Church, 304 North Marcus Street, Wrightsville, GA 31096. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/ Wrightsville Chapel has charge of arrangements.
