OBITUARY:

Paul Dean Akers, 70, went to be with the love of his life, Anna Marie Akers (Cakes by Anna) at 5 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013. He was born Oct. 29, 1943, and was in the printing business all his life.
He was an active member of React, Boy Scouting, foster parenting, foreign exchange host family, officer of the Optimist Club and Emmaus register.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Anna M. Akers; his mother, Margaret Church; stepfather, William Church of Terre Haute; father, Thomas Burkley; brother, James Hargett of Terre Haute; and sisters, Susie Orndorff of Brazil and Judy Shuler of Terre Haute;
He is survived by daughters, Kelly Riddell and husband Jay, and Janice Akers and companion Rusty Wylie; sons, Randy Akers and wife Melissa of Seelyville, Paul Andrew Akers and wife Shannon of Coatsville, Matthew Akers and wife Amanda of Brazil; sisters, Patti Bulloch and husband Bob, Peggy Church and husband Joe, Billie Johnston, Kathy Sparks and husband Randy, Emma Hinds and husband Buster, Wilma Barnes and husband Bob, and Marsha Hay and husband Steve, all of Terre Haute; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at East Side Church of Christ, where he was a 20-year member. Pastor Abe Miller will officiate. Visitation is 5 p.m. until services Friday. In lieu of flowers please send donations to East Side Church of Christ in Terre Haute, Ind.
