Elsie Carmouche Blanchard passed away at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Pointe Coupee Health Care in New Roads. She was 89 and a native and resident of New Roads. Visiting at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Roads, on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with Monsignor Robert Berggreen, celebrant. Interment in False River Memorial Park. Survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Gauthier and husband Russell, and Debra Gilland and husband Jerome; two sons, John Anthony Blanchard and friend Patricia Guidroz, and John P. Blanchard Jr. and wife Vickie; grandchildren, Darren and Brett Gauthier, Brent Cary, Christine Duke and Daniel Cary, Ryan and Daniel Gilland, John Aaron Blanchard, Jason Blanchard and Andrew Blanchard; and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, John P. Blanchard Sr.; parents, Ovide and Elodie Loupe Carmouche; sister, Forestine C. Loupe; and brother, Emare Carmouche. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Arrangements by Niland's Funeral Service, New Roads.
