Claremont -- The funeral for Dean Cutler, 78, of Claremont will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Claremont. The Rev. Wayne Tieszen will officiate.
Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Groton under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Groton and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church in Claremont.
He died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
Dean Cutler was born April 11, 1922, to Homer and Grace (Snyder) Cutler in Brown County. He attended Claremont High School and graduated in 1940.
He married Geraldean Foster on Sept. 5, 1943, in Claremont. They made their home on a farm near Claremont. They lived in the Claremont area most of his life. He had spent the last few winters in Arizona.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Claremont, Methodist Men, and he acted as a lay minister for the church. He was an active 4-H leader for 20 years.
He enjoyed farming, airplanes and children.
Survivors include one son, Tim (Kelli) Cutler of Des Moines, Iowa; four daughters, Deanna (Gary) Junso of Sioux Falls, Debra Oleson of Yankton, Susan (Jerry) Corbin of Leesburg, Va., and Cheryl (Gregg) Meyer of Watertown, Wis.; four brothers, Wayne Cutler and Kay Cutler, both of Claremont, Val Cutler of Groton, and Gary Cutler of Aberdeen; one sister, Lorelii Odland of Claremont; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Shirley King of Sun City West, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son in infancy.
