Obituary:
Mrs. S. L. Dawkins, whose death occurred at Brighton recently, was born in Adelaide in 1840. When about, seven years of age deceased went to Gawler River with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wilkinson, who started farming operations, and built the homestead known as "Woodburn," which still stands on the bank of the Gawler River. At the age of 21, the late Mrs. Dawkins married Mr. S. L. Dawkins, and they spent their honeymoon at Brighton.
Until ten years ago they lived at Newbold Farm, Gawler River, when they retired with
their two daughters to Brighton. Mr. Dawkins predeceased his wife three years ago at the age of 88 years. The late Mrs. Dawkins had a most kindly disposition, always finding excuses for faults in others. She was most hospitable, a consistent Christian, and a loyal member of the Methodist Church. Deceased .had a wide circle of friends.
The family of seven are all living—Mr. A. M. Dawkins (Gawler River), Dr. S. L. Dawkins (Adelaide), Messrs. J. H. and W. J. Dawkins (Gawler River), Mrs. A. J. Bray (of Seacliff),. Mrs. Roediger and Miss Dawkins (Brighton).
There are fourteen grandchildren. The funeral took place at the family burying ground at Gawler River, the service being conducted by the Rev. G. K Haslam, of Brighton.
