Verona Carter of Cottonwood passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013. She was 93 years old.

Verona was born on April 1, 1920, in Weeds, N.M., to Richard and Mary Alice Beals. She attended Safford High School, graduating in 1938.

She worked for Yellow Front stores for 27 years. She was awarded a 20 year volunteer plaque from Red Rock Care and Rehab, now known as The Haven of Cottonwood. She was a member of the LDS church in Cottonwood and has given a lifetime of service to her church.

She dedicated her life to the service of others. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

Verona was preceded in death by her husband Charles Carter and her daughter, Vickie Paulus. She is survived by her sisters, Cleedith Baker of Yuma, AZ and Bonnie Byrd of Snowflake, AZ; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the LDS church in Cottonwood, located at 1377 E. Hombre Drive in Cottonwood.

A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. A private burial will take place at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
