Former General and IXth Marquis of Santa Cruz de Rivadulla. He was one of the main participants of the attempted coup of February 23, 1981, and was to be appointed President of Government if the movement had triumphed. After the trial to the leaders of the rebellion, he was expelled from the army and sentenced to 30 years in prison in Alcalá Meco prison. On December 24, 1988, the government pardoned him claiming health reasons and also that the defendant upheld loyalty to the Spanish Constitution. In 1983 he published "To the service of the Crown", an account of his own life.
