Andrew served in the military in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. He was a medical corpsman and an Operating Room technician. Andrew was assigned the duty of caring for the burn victims that were at Hiroshima at the end of WWII.
He served as Peshtigo Chamber of Commerce President and on the Board of Directors; on the Athletic boards of St. May’s School and Marinette Catholic Central, treasurer of the local American Legion Post, Peshtigo Little League, and spent many hours volunteering at the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He owned Andy’s Super Market from 1957 to 1963 and was employed as a Quality Auditor at Karl Scmidt Unisia for 27 years prior to retirement in 1992. Andrew enjoyed hunting and fishing, casino gaming, traveling, having breakfast with his friends at the local restaurants and most of all spending time with his boys and his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Andrew is survived by his wife of 49-1/2 years Sandra (Stillmak) Eklund; Two sons, Daniel (Karen) Eklund
David (Toni) Eklund; Five grandchildren, Emily, Shelby, Gabrielle, Sadie and Nicholas; One brother, Rodger (Marjorie) Eklund; Sister-in-law, Marilyn Stillmak
Many nieces and a nephew.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7:00 p.m. A Legion service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Visitation continues on Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Peshtigo from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. with a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.
The Rev. Fr. Michael Clifford will be officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
