Rodger DeWayne Eklund, age 89, well known Peshtigo resident, passed away on December 23, 2013 at Rennes Health Center-West.Born on January 21, 1924, he graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1942. Rodger served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and participated in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1945 as a decorated veteran. He returned to Peshtigo and on September 28, 1946 married the former Marjorie Devroy at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo where he was a lifelong member. Rodger owned and operated the former Eklund Convalescent Home (currently The Landmark), Eklund Trucking and Eklund Insurance Agency. He retired in 1985 and he and Marjorie enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, Florida. Rodger was a Peshtigo State Bank board member, former 3rd Ward Alderman of the City of Peshtigo and member of 4th Degree Nights of Columbus, Elks Club, Lions Club, American Legion, American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Rodger is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son, Rodger (Shirley) Eklund; three daughters: Judy (Richard) Michalski, Mary Kay (Tim) Duket and Susan (Keith) Felmer; and a son-in-law, Randy Cohorst. He is further survived by seven grandchildren: Kimberly, Christopher, Erin, Renee, Gregory, Laura and Evan; and four great-grandchildren: Cole, Lucas, John and Ethan. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Cohorst; his parents, Leander and Elizabeth (Newbury) Eklund; a sister, Lorraine; and a brother, Andrew.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo
