Ethel Thorniley died today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hugh Phillips after a long illness.

She was born May 1, 1886, at Grandview, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert Bruce and Sarah (Trimble) Irwin. She was predeceased by her husband, Hal A. Thorniley, on Oct 20, 1956.

Mrs. Thorniley was a member of Wesley Methodist Church, Womens Society of Christian Service, the Col. John Evans chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Morgantown Art Association and the Morgantown Womens Club.

Survivors include two sons, Robert I. Thorniley of McKeesport, Pa., and Chris W. Thorniley of Clarksburg; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Frances) Prince of Yucaipa, Calif., Mrs. Hugh (Sarah) Phillips of Morgantown, and Mrs. J. Karl (Ruth) Bletner of Knoxville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Volney M. Irwin of Wayne City, Ill., and Ernest R. Irwin of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Vesta Hutchinson of Belington and Mrs. Pearl L. (Vey) Hart of Cornerville, Ohio.

Funeral services were conducted by the Revs. Jennings Fast and LeRoy Hooper. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
