Vietnam Medal of Honor. He served in the United States Army with Company B, 4th Battalion, 11th Light Infantry unit. Corpal Mitchell Robinson of Florence, South Carolina was the son of the late James and Ezell Gibbs Robinson. He was a 1968 graduate of Wilson High School. The following year he enlisted in the Army and earned the rank of Corpal. He was a Lights Infantry Specialist that begin his Vietnam tour on March 9, 1970. Corpal Robinson was killed shortly afterwards during combat action when a booby trap exploded. His body was recovered near South Vietnam. He was one of many Vietnam casualties from his home city of Florence. Corpal Robinson was posthumously honored with the Purple Heart and his name is inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC.
