Paul Franklin Chatfield, 87, North Port and formerly of Venice, died Aug. 16, 2001. He was born Feb. 17, 1914, in Coal Grove, Ohio, and came to Venice in 1974 from Elkhart, Ind. He moved to North Port in 1995. He was employed by Elkhart General Hospital as a maintenance engineer. He was a member of American Legion Post 159 in Venice and North Port Nazarene Church. He was a World War II Army veteran. Survivors include five daughters, Mary Alice Goodknight of Frankfort, Ind., Connie Kaufman and Brenda Early, both of North Port, Martha Aleshire of Port Charlotte and Kathy Baker of Morristown, Tenn.; a son, Larry of North Port; a sister, Ruth Harper of Lafayette, Ind.; 32 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be private with inurnment in Venice Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Englewood Community Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Bon Secours-Venice Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Angel Fund, 1131 Jacaranda Blvd., Venice, FL 34292.
