On Thursday evening, March 2, 1989, God called our loved one, Katherine, to eternal rest. KATHERINE MCKITHEN was born in South Carolina February 11, 1919 to the late Tom and Rachel Burroughs. She attended Bucksport Public School System. At an early age, she joined Salem AM.E. Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. On October 20, 1935 Katherine Burroughs married the late Detlow McKithen and to this union ten children were born. In the early 1950's, they moved to Trenton, New Jersey where she became a faithful member of Mt. Zion AM.E. Church. She belonged to the Daughters of Allen, the Stewardess Board, the Myra Ashley Missionary Society, and the Gospel chorus. She remained a member of Salem AM.E. Church, Bucksport, SC, until the time of her death. She retired from Trenton Psychiatric Hospital in 1984. Throughout her life, Katherine strived to attain a special goal, completing her secondary education. She became a devoted wife and mother early in life. After raising her children, she set out to complete her education. Katherine was a God-fearing woman. Her perseverance and endurance enabled her to be strong-willed, determined and kind-hearted.
