Mavis E. Lantz, 86, of Miracle Run, near Blacksville, died Friday, December 6, 2013 at her residence.
She was born October 10, 1927 at Miracle Run, a daughter of the late Learney D. Tennant and Bertha Mae Wilson Tennant.
Mrs. Tennant was homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mavis was a member of the Daybrook Church of Christ.
She was a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School.
Surviving are her husband of sixty seven years, Lloyd Lantz; one son, Randy Lantz of Morgantown; one daughter, Dianna Minor of Core; two brothers, Stanley Tennant of Fairmont and Billy Tennant of Fairview; one sister, Jean Berry of Mt. Morris, PA; five grandchildren, Tammy Chisler, Tabb Minor, Michele Hockenberry, Shawn Lantz and Brian Lantz; and four great-grandsons, Michael Chisler, Kyle Chisler, Jordan Hockenberry and Jarret Hockenberry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Tennant, Pansy Lowther, Violet Conner, and Marjorie Kiger; and three brothers, Dwayne Tennant, Learney D. Tennant, Jr., and Homer Tennant.
The family would like to give a "special thanks" to Debbie Tennant and Trish Tennant for the wonderful care give to Mavis during her illness.
Also, the family would like to thank Hospice Care Corp. nurses Allison and Crystal for all of the care and compassion shown to Mavis and her family during her illness.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 5-9 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Monday with the Rev. Freddie Eddy, II officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens at Westover.
