He was born Sept. 20, 1918, at Miracle Run, a son of the late Learney D. Tennant Sr., and Bertha Mae Wilson Tennant.
Mr. Tennant was a retired construction superintendent for the Dick Corp. from Large, Pa. He retired with 25 years of service for the company.
He was an avid horseman and loved to go to horse shows and on trail rides. One of his great joys was attending the livestock auction in Waynesburg, Pa., each Thursday.
He was a member of the Waynesburg Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, L. Douglas and Vicki Tennant of Thomas Run; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jane and Gary Stiles of Burton, W.Va., Lynnette and Ted Lacy of Hudson, Fla., Brenda Smith of Lakeside, Ohio, and Jenene and Tom Coleman of Wexford, Pa.
Three brothers, Homer Tennant of Miracle Run, Stanley Tennant of Fairmont, and Billy Tennant of Fairview; three sisters, Marjorie Kiger of Fairmont, Mavis Lantz of Miracle Run, and Jean Berry of Mount Morris; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Helen Levaughn Moore Tennant, who died in 1990; three sisters, Helen Tennant, Pansy Lowther and Violet Conner; and one brother, Dwayne Tennant.
Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. John Poling at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
