Daughter of Chauncy Guild and Selinda Borne.
Eight siblings included Eunice, Lucy, John, Joseph, Margaret, George, James and Sarah.
Married to Lyman McBride Ford in Sandusky, Ohio on June 20, 1855. They had no children.
She was involved in the horticulture/nursery business of her husband, and by at least October of 1872, was winning prizes for her floral designs. She was also judging the entries in the canned food category during that same agricultural fair.
In 1885 after her health began to deteriorate even more, she and Lyman rented out their Groveland Nursery in Minnesota and moved first to Los Angeles, California, and then by 1887 to San Diego, California. Abbie continued to do what orchid arrangements that she could, for her husband's new floral shop in San Diego. After suffering a stroke, Abbie died on August 4, 1896.
