She was one of six children.
After her marriage to William they moved to Leeds, ME living at Curtis Corner until 1871 when they moved to their home in South Leeds, ME where they lived until 1900.
Delia and William were the parents of eight children, five of whom are living at the time of her death.
She attended the Quaker Ridge M. E church when she lived at South Leeds, ME and was very helpful in the work of the Benefit Society. She was a member of the Three Quarter Centry club and has attended some of the meetings.
She is survived by five children Herbert W Bates of Greene, ME; Lewis E Bates of Rockland, ME; Mrs Jennie M Mower of Greene, ME; Cyrus S Bates of Hyde Park, MA; Mrs Bessie B Fogg of Greene, ME; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
