The birth of Alexander Aitken was registered in Sunderland, in the quarter ended June 1897.
Death.
Alexander Young Blair Askins (sic), aged 18, a Soldier, died at The Fever Hospital, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, on 16 February 1915.
The cause of death was Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis, 4 days, Heart Failure, certified.∼He was a British Soldier, a Private in the Hampshire Regiment. His grave is listed by the Commonwealth War graves Commission. Service number 14928.
He served 225 days from 29th April 1914 to 9th December 1914. He was discharged from the forces on Dec 9th 1914 under paragraph 156 (5). "Not being likely to become an efficient soldier of the Territorial Army"
His mother was Mrs Emily Aitken. Highfield.
He had sisters Barbara Jean, and Verona Gertrude, neither married.
