Edgefield - Eleanor Dunovant Timpson was born on Dec. 22, 1910, in Edgefield. She was the daughter of Robert Lee and Mary Nicholson Dunovant. Mrs. Timpson attended Junior College in Augusta GA, Winthrop College, and was a graduate of Newberry College, Class of 1931. Mrs. Timpson taught school for a short period in Manning and began a career as a secretary and office manager. She worked in Memphis TN and Columbia for the SEED Loan. After that, she worked for several Insurance Companies in Rock Hill and Columbia. In the late 1930's, she moved to Charleston and was first employed by the Santee Cooper Project as one of it's first employees. She later worked for the Navy Department and the Ship Building and Dry Dock. In 1943, she met her future husband, at a USO dance at Saint Michael Parish House. She and Francis Timpson of Newton NJ were married on Oct. 16, 1943, at her home in Edgefield. She left Charleston after the war to return home to take care of her mother. She had two sons, Roger Hill and Gill Dunovant Timpson. Mrs. Timpson devoted the rest of her life to taking care of a number of family members in poor health and rearing her sons. She was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church, The Village Gardeners, The Daughters of The American Revolution, and the Hospital Auxiliary. Graveside at Willowbrook Cemetery.
