Lester Lewis

Lester I. Lewis, 75, of West Lake Road, Richfield Springs RD 1, died Thursday, Dec. 29 at his home, after an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 14, 1902, in New Lisbon a son of William and Nettie (Stone) Lewis. He married Cora Baker June 18, 1925 in Norwich.

Mr. Lewis was a partner in Lewis and Vosburgh Roofing Company, Oneonta, from 1925-1940. He later worked for the Bendix Corporation in Sidney through the war years. In 1945, he purchased a dairy farm at Maple Grove, which he operated until his retirement in 1962.

Mr. Lewis has been a resident of Richfield Springs since 1962.

Surviving are his wife, at home; five daughters, Mrs. DeForrest (Audrey) Finch of West Oneonta, Mrs. Eli (Anita) Baird of 142 Chestnut St., Oneonta, Mrs. Junior Ray (Alice) Sain of Okeechobee, Fla., Mrs. Harold (Arlene) Bunting of Mechanicville and Mrs. Lawrence (Ruth) Bunting of Waterford; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Coveny of Bowerstown; one step-sister, Mrs. Ralph (Evelyn) Clark of Hobart; a step-brother, Harvey Crawford of Norwich; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews.

The funeral and committal services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 1978 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Wilfred Lyon, pastor of the Morris United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Oneonta Plains Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience after noon Saturday and until service time Monday.
