Tranquilino "Lino" Barela, age 79, a longtime resident of Mora, NM, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013.
Tranquilino was born on February 10, 1934 in Mora, NM, to the late Dionicio Barela and Francisquita Medina Barela.
Tranquilino spent most of his adulthood working as a sheep herder in Wyoming. Upon returning to his hometown of Mora, NM, he became an individual that was thought of by many people as a quiet and good individual. His pass time included him buying food to feed his adored dogs, cats and the wild birds that would come near his home.
Tranquilino was preceded in death by his father and mother, sisters, Mary Maés and Juanita Collins, brothers, Lazaro, Ramon, Crisantos and Paul Barela, niece, Viola Casias.
Tranquilino is survived by his brother, Donicio Sandoval and his wife, Jane of Rocky Ford, CO, nieces, Alpha Durán, Lillian Martínez, Elsie Sánchez, Celestina Maés, Patricia and Diane Collins, nephews, Claudio Maés, Floyd, Larry, Benjie, Ernie and Eddie Barela and Scott Collins, good friends, Louie and Viola García and Frank Martínez all of Mora, NM and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends all in which "Lino" loved and cared about dearly.
Rosary service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 with Funeral Mass to follow Rosary with both services at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Mora, NM with Father Paul Grala as celebrant. Interment of cremains will follow at the St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Mora, NM.
