"Pioneer Of Allen Dies In Sioux City (handwritten date 1944)
Mrs. Anna Doughty 64 youngest daughter of Susan and T.J. Rose was born on a farm north of Allen and died in the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City, on March 27, following a weeks illness which began with the flu. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rose helped with the construction and organization of the town of Allen.
Mrs. Doughty grew to womanhood in the community of Allen and was a member of the second graduating class of the Allen High School in 1897. She was united in marriage to Ellsworth Doughty and with her husband she remained at Allen for a short time and then moved to western Nebraska and from there to California, where she made he(r) home for several years before she accompanied by her daughter returned to the middle west to make their home in Sioux City. She was employed in Davidson Bros. Department store between 20 and 30 years and was working there at the time she was taken ill just prior to her death.
Survivors are her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Bayne of Stockton, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Janie Buckley of Los Angeles Calif., and two grandchildren, also of Stockton.
Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, March 30, in Sioux City and interment was ____ in Graceland Park cemetery of that city."
