Rev. Robert "Big Doug" Adkins, age 77 of Caryville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the UT Medical Center of Knoxville. Robert was born on March 9, 1936 in Campbell County, Tennessee to the late Edgar and Flossie Packette Adkins. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Robert was a member of Red Ash Baptist Church. Robert pastored at Bearwallow Baptist Church and Red Ash Baptist Church over the years, and he also founded the Open Arms Ministry. Robert loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his daughter, Patsy Brown, and his brothers Willie and Raymond Adkins.
