Mrs. Modeste , daughter of the late Victoria Philips and Victor Boyke, was born November 18, 1910 in St. Georges Grenada, West Indies. She was a member of the Salvation Army, Grenada and retired from the Grenada Hospital. Mrs. Modeste had a love of reading the Bible and the Daily Word.
She was the widow of Abraham Modeste . Surviving are a daughter, Erline and her husband, Reginald Charles of Harrisburg; two grandsons, Ian of Brooklyn, NY, and Ronald Charles, Sr., of Harrisburg; two granddaughters, Kim of Lebanon and Pat Charles of Brooklyn; four great-granddaughters, Terrion and Iyanie Charles, both of Harrisburg, Naomi Charles of Brooklyn and Tatyana Rouff of Lebanon; three great-grandsons, Lamont Stanley of Lebanon, Ronald Charles, Jr. of Harrisburg and Jaden Smith of Brooklyn.
A tribute to her life will be held at noon, Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Harambee United Church of Christ, 2111 N. 4th Street, Harrisburg. She will be eulogized by Pastor Brenda Alton. Viewing and visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will be in the William Howard Day Cemetery, Steelton.
