Hosmer, S.D. - Mass of Christian Burial for Magdalena Gisi, 81, of Hosmer, who died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hosmer with Fr. William Broome, Celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A Liturgical Wake Service is 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday.

Magdalena was born March 21, 1924, to Peter P. and Rosina (Imberi) Heilman at Bowdle, S.D. She was raised on the family farm northeast of Bowdle. She attended rural school until her mother passed away and then helped to raise her siblings.

Magdalena married Benedict Gisi on Nov. 27, 1944, in Bowdle. They made their home on a farm southwest of Hosmer, S.D. This is where she raised her family and assisted in the daily farming chores. She moved to the Hosmer Senior Citizen's Home in June, 1999 and lived there until the time of her death.

Magdalena enjoyed sewing, gardening, dancing and especially playing cards with her grandchildren. Her family and friends remember her as a soft spoken and good hearted woman who put her family first in her life.

Thankful for having Magdalena in their lives are her children Berkeley "Rocky" (Helen) Gisi of Bowdle, Angeline (Kenneth) Dais of Oshkosh, Wis., Donna Cordle of Columbus, Ohio, Duane Gisi of Hosmer, Ardella (Wayne, Sr.) Theunissen of Groton, Ruth (Randy) Rosengarten of Austin, Texas, Rita (Neil) Scherr of Roscoe, and Gail Singh of Waukau, Wis. She is also survived by her husband Benedict of Hosmer; three brothers, Pius (Nettie) Heilman of Madison, S.D., George Heilman of Beach, N.D., Raymond (Eleanor) Heilman of Bowdle; four sisters, Virginia Schmaltz of Oakes, N.D., Florence (Paul) Malsam of Hosmer, Josephine (BlasŽ) Mattern of Minot, N.D., and Rose (Conrad) Lauinger of Fargo, N.D.; 18 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Her parents, an infant son, Donald and her brother Joseph preceded her in death.
