Donald Earl Ragel, 73, of Vandalia, passed away at 6:00pm, Thursday, December 19, 2013 at his home in rural Vandalia.

Donald Ragel was born September 24, 1940 in Butler Grove Twp. in Illinois, the son of Clyde R. and Helen M. (Brewbaker) Ragel. Mr. Ragel worked as a produce manager for TriCity and then as a foreman at Imco before retiring. He was a veteran of the US Army and was affiliated with Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Ragel is survived by his daughters Holly Norris of Vandalia and Heidi and husband Daniel Upchurch of Kirkwood, MO; stepson Kenny Gates and wife April of Vandalia; sister Many Jo and husband Glenn Summann of Brownstown; grandchildren Natasha Grill, Cpl. Victoria Ragel, Gwyneth Upchurch and Madilyn Upchurch; and step grandchildren Brady Gates, Bryce Gates, and Lacey Gates.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dean Ragel, and sister Erma Stolte.
