Helen M Ragel, age 90 of Vandalia, died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Helen was born on October 27, 1915, the daughter of William H and Mary M (Parker) Brewbaker. She married Clyde R Ragel on May 18, 1934 in Vandalia. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1996. She retired in 1997 from Crane Packing. Prior to that she was a dresser at Johnson-Stephenson Shoe Factory in Vandalia from 1947 to 1970. She enjoyed hunting mushrooms, fishing, gardening, rummage sales and was an avid reader. She also babysat for several of her great grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo (husband Glen) Summann of Brownstown; one son, Donald Ragel of Vandalia; one sister, Rachel Jennings of Riverton, Wyoming; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Robert Dean Ragel; one daughter, Erma Stolte; seven brothers, Jacob, John, James, Joseph, Thomas, Charles and Jay Brewbaker; and one sister, Bertha Brewbaker.
