Henry GORDON was born in Wayne County, Ohio, May 19, 1838; died March 10, 1911, aged seventy-two years, nine months, nineteen days.

He came to Indiana with his parents in 1847.

He was married to Elizabeth SOLLIDAY March 11, 1854, to which union was born five children. A daughter, Carrie, died in infancy. The surviving children are Perry GORDON and Grant GORDON, of this place; Mrs. Mary BLAND, of Tulip, and Mrs. Anna STRICKLAND, of Linton.

The companion of his youth died February 17, 1899. He was married the second time to Elizabeth SHERTZER October 22, 1900, living happily together until separated by death. She lives to mourn her loss.

He united with the Allen Chapel M.P. church many years ago, living faithful to the trust confided in him, enduring unto the end of life.

At his country's call he enlisted March 21, 19861 in Company F, Fifty-ninth Regiment of Indiana Volunteers. He received an honorable discharge from service May 31, 1865. He was born in Richland, Ohio and was twenty-eight years of age when he joined the army.

Funeral services were conducted at Allen Chapel by Rev. John JACKSON, last Sunday afternoon. Interment in the cemetery at Tulip.
