Mrs. Margaret AXE, better known as “Aunt Peggy,” another pioneer of Greene County, died Sunday at Tulip at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Jacob FLORY, at the advanced age of eighty-five years.

Many, many years ago she came to Greene County from Ohio and for sixty-two years had been a devoted member of the Church of God. She was a woman of many excellent qualities and held in the highest esteem by all who knew her.

William AXE, of this place, and Thomas AXE, of Tulip, were her stepsons, and Mrs. John FLORY, of Tulip was her daughter. These together with another daughter who resides in the West and twenty-nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive her.

The funeral services were held at Tulip Monday afternoon at one o’clock in charge of the Rev. Henry FLORY, assisted by Elder W. R. COVERT, and her remains were laid to rest in the Tulip cemetery, which long years ago was donated as a public burial ground by her first husband, the Rev. David NEIDIGH.
