Monsignor Giuseppe Bedetti, affectionately called to this day "Don Jusféin" by the citizens of Bologna, was ordained to the priesthood in 1822, having interrupted his studies several times due to his frail health which led him to leave the Society of Jesus whom he joined in Genoa in 1818. Receiving the habit of the Third Order of the Servites of Mary on April 10, 1864, he exercised his apostolic zeal among the sick, orphans, prisoners and those sentenced to death. Passing away at the age of 90, he was originally buried at the Certosa of Bologna but due to the great devotion held towards him by the people of the city, his remains were transferred to the Basilica of San Petronio, of which he served as Canon Archpriest, on October 23, 1925.
