He was involved in local politices and an early Reeve of Eldon. He was named one of the first Wardens of the newly-created Victoria County, around 1860. He then entered the Provincial race and in the 1870's, he was M.P.P. for Victoria County at Queen's Park.
D.O.M. - July 18, 1851, Eldon Twp., Victoria Co., Ont., to Maria Dalgleish. Her mother was widowed twice,, her first husband being Morris Tobin, then William Dalgleish and last to William McCreadie (McCready).
His death reg. notes his D.O.D. as June 16, 1879 but both a obit and gravestone note Mar. 12, 1879, while another obit notes Mar. 13, 1879. Since he is supposed to have died within a week of his wife who died Mar. 6, 1879, I have concluded that the Mar. 12th date is more likely correct.
