Or Eastes.
Birthdate is a best guess, estimated from the date of his marriage in 1520 to Anny ?

His parentage is unknown, and it is assumed that he was born in Deal, Kent, but we are only certain that he died there and was buried in the St. Leonard churchyard, as in his will he requests that he be "buryed in the church yerde of Saynt Leonard in the parisshe of Deale."

The ESTES family, so the tale goes, had it's begining in Italy ca 1087 and the name goes back to the Roman Colony of ESTE settled in 136 BC. There is a story/tradition that one of the Marquises sons, Francesco, due to the fortunes
of war, having to flee France and in 1471 on to England. There he became the founder of English line of Estes. The history we can find and prove does not go back that far! From detailed study of the Parish registers, Bishops
Transcripts and other material contained at the Canterbury Cathederal Archives, by Donald Bowler of Canterbury, England, we now have the following information to work
from. We now can find Nicholas EWSTAS, born ca 1495, married 1520 to Anny, and died with a will in 1533 at Deal, Kent, England.
