Dulcie Ashmore Bagwell, 92, died on April 29. She was born on August 12, 1922, in Carroll County where she lived all her life.
Mrs. Bagwell was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bagwell; a daughter, Judy Ann Bagwell; her parents, Samuel Douglas and Eunice Windom Ashmore; two brothers, Samuel Douglas Ashmore, Jr.and Kenneth Troy Ashmore; and a sister, Sara Ashmore Gammon. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Larry Pate of Whitesburg; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Sam and Becky Gentry of Carrollton; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha Brook Gentry, Will Shead, Audrey Shead and Judith Grace Gentry. She also is survived by her sister, Margaret Ashmore Carroll and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bagwell was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church and after its closing attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for many years. She worked at Arrow Shirt Company before her children were born and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s garage and hydra lift business.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Hearn and Rev. Bob Infinger officiating. Music will be provided by Harold McWhorter and Cathy Gambrell. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Church, Brad Cole, Lindel Foster, Cal Gordon, Scott Hawkins, Johnny Lynn, Donald Nixon and John Pate. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Bloodworth, Harold Henry and William Jenkins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Bagwell to the Mt. Zion Cemetery, 515 Newnan Street, Carrollton, Georgia 30117; to the Whitesburg Public Library Book Fund, Post Office Box 451, Whitesburg, Georgia 30185; or to the Community Foundation of West Georgia, 807 South Park Street, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.
