William Rasmussen died at the Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona. Services were held at Saint's Peter and Paul Catholic Church, West Bend, with Rev. Bruce LeFebvre and Rev. Louis Greving officiating. Burial was in the West Bend Cemetery, with Military graveside rites by the West Bend American Legion Post.
Casket Bearers were Russell Jergens, David Johnson, Tom Leonard, Dominic Wibe, David Bleuer, and Tom Stienkamp. Honorary Casket Bearers were the West Bend Police Department, Kossuth County Sheriffs Office, Palo Alto County Sheriffs Office and Reserves, Pocahontas County Sheriffs Office and Iowa State Troopers.

On Sept. 23, 1958, he was married to Elizabeth Edgington at St's Peter and Paul Catholic Church in West Bend. The couple lived in West Bend until 1962, when he joined the Algona Police Force where he worked until his return to West Bend in 1966. While in West Bend he served as Chief of Police, retiring in 1997.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, a son, 11 grandchildren, a brother and a sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Michael, brothers Richard, Carrol and Glen and a sister Donna. He was a member of Ss.
