CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - George J. Baldassari Sr., 75, of 551 Stouffer Ave., Chambersburg, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at his home.

Born June, 12, 1923, in Seneca Falls, N.Y., he was the son of the late James P. and Mary A. Matthews Baldassari.

He was retired from DESCOM, Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, as a logistic support systems analyst.

He served in the Marines during World War II.

He was a life member of Landis McCleaf Detachment of the Marine Corps League since 1952 and served as president and in other offices with the Home Association.

He was also a life member of Chambersburg Club, Amvets Post 224, Burt J. Asper Post 16 American Legion, Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599, and Veterans of Vietnam War Post 41, all of Chambersburg.

He is survived by the following:
his wife, Celesta Combs Baldassari,
whom he married in 1944;
three daughters,
Linda Lower and
Carol Otenberger, both of Chambersburg,
Kay Salmon of Virginia Beach, Va.;
three sons,
John Baldassari Jr. of Chambersburg,
Robert G. Baldassari of Vienna, Va., and
Roy L. Baldassari of Lawrenceville, N.J.;
four sisters,
Betty J. Brainard of Baldwinsville, N.Y.,
Helen Lamoureux of Newark, N.Y.,
Joan Capaldi of Seneca Falls, N.Y., and
Mary Lou Anderson of Finley, Ohio;
16 grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Daniel F. Lawler will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Military graveside services will be conducted by The Landis McCleaf Detachment of the Marine Corps League.
