OBITUARY:

The Spectator, Rushford, NY, 8 Nov 1906

Samuel Burgess

Samuel Burgess died at his home in Kelloggville Thursday of consumption, aged 73. Most of his life was spent in the town of Caneadea. About thirty years ago he married Sarah Lewis who survives with five children--Mrs. Myrtle Hazzard of Allentown and Miss Mary Burgess who lives with her sister, John, Willie and Charley Burgess.

The funeral was held at his late home Sunday, Rev. Cooper of Fillmore officiating, and the burial took place at Fillmore.

Mr. Burgess was a kind hearted, genial man. He has been in poor health many years but patiently bore his affliction and made the best of his condition.

The funeral was well attended and among those present from away were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hazzard and Miss Mary Burgess of Allentown, John Burgess of Hamburg, E. Burgess and family of Houghton, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith of Fillmore, Rev. E. Palmer of Caneadea, Jas. Frazier of Centerville, John Rycraft and family and Fred Gant and family of Caneadea.
