Serving as Spanish Fork High School student body president, caption of the football team, playing the sousaphone in the band and a member of the debate team, Sterling D. Jones, a statesman, horseman, and gentleman, completed his earthly life at his home with this wife and three daughters at his side.

Born in Spanish Fork, Utah, son of David H. and Mary E. Nielson Jones, he married Dorothy Fern Pulver of Payson 68 years ago. They are the parents of Marylyn Jones (Sterling) Argyle, Elaine Jones (J. Preston) Hughes and Kathleen Jones, including 11 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Graduating from Utah State University in Animal Husbandry, he returned to Spanish Fork High School to teach vocational agriculture and work at Geneva Steel. Known for his integrity, honesty, goodness and kindness to all, he served as the youngest Justice of the Peace, a deputy sheriff, a Utah County Commissioner and first president of the Central Utah Water Conservancy District.

Recognized as Spanish Fork Senior Citizen of the Year in 2005 and a 2006 Fiesta Days Everyday Hero, he loved farming and was recognized for fine crops, purebred cattle, award winning Duroc hogs and his famous racehorse, Snip.
