James was the son of Jesse George and Massy Anderson George.
He married Margaret Stogdill on 10 July 1856 in Clear Springs, Jackson County, Indiana, USA

November 15, 1912

W.A. George (William Andrew George), residing out west of Elm Springs, came in Monday morning from Fort Worth, Texas where he had been to attend the funeral of his father, J.D. George, who died Friday morning. The elder Mr. George formerly lived in the section, going from here to Indiana twenty-three years ago, and he had been a resident of Fort Worth for seventeen years. He was 75 years of age and was the father of fourteen children, being survived by a widow and ten children. In all there are 99 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At the age of twenty years Mr. George united with the Methodist Church and about one year ago he united with the Baptist Church at Fort Worth. The remains were interred in the Arewine(sic) cemetery at Fort Worth.
