Died-At his residence, in Grand Coteau, Sept. 19, 1882, at 11:30 p.m., Sylvester J. Barry, in the 59th year of his age.

Our misfortunes follow each other in quick succession. Little did we think, fourteen months ago, when we followed the mortal remains of his beloved companion to their last resting place, that in so short a time, we would again be called upon to render the same sad mark of respect to the worthy object of this notice.

He passed away in the greatest peace, after an illness of only ten days, surrounded by a loving and devoted family, by a host of friends and sustained by all the consolations of religion.

Kind and gentle in his manners, he was beloved by his fellow men. Sincere and upright in his dealings, he won the confidence and esteem of all.

Though dead he still speaks; for he leaves us all the glorious example of a useful, honorable life, crowned by a happy death.        A Friend
