Algia Lay, 76 years of age, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, December 23rd, 2013 at his home.
Algia was born at Hayes Creek, Kentucky on January 4th, 1937, son of the late Edgar Calvin "Ed" and Flara Lovett Lay. Algia had been a self employed brick layer. He was a lifetime member of the Kinne Slaven Post#115 of the American Legion. Algia had given his life to Christ and was saved on November 24th, 2013 and Baptized on December 18th, 2013.
Algia was survived by his wife, Pernia Irene Hamlin Lay; two sons, Jerry Lay and Terry Lay; three daughters, Teresa Yancey, Denise Waters, and Carla Reeves; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Lay, who departed this life on March 17th, 1962 and Flara Lay, who departed this life on August 12th, 1992; and two brothers, Paul Lay and Wilgie Lay.
Visitations were held on Sunday, December 29th, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at the Pine Knot Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 29th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Dixon and Rev. Daniel Ridener officiating.
Burial followed in the East Pine Knot Memorial Gardens in Pine Knot, Kentucky.
