Puerto Rican ballad singer and recording artist whose career spanned almost three decades. Born Luis Felipe Rodriguez Quiñones in the Savarona district of Caguas, Puerto Rico, to Luis Felipe Rodriguez and Carmen Quiñones, he moved to the capital San Juan where he began his musical career participating in the radio program "Tribuna del Arte." He formed a duet with singer Julito Rodriguez, and later formed the trio Romanceros. In the 1950s he founded the Carpios, which later became the popular trio Los Antares. He also formed a duo with Maria Esther Perez Felix from 1950 to 1953. Also known as "the Voice" (“La Voz”), Felipe Rodriguez recorded memorable songs like “La Última Copa,” “Golondrina Viajera,”and "Los Reyes No Llegaron." Together with his Trio Los Antares, Felipe conquered the Latino stages of the United States, breaking all records for ticket sales for a Latin artist. In 1954 he founded the famous duo Felipe and Davilita with Pedro Ortiz Dávila, obtaining great successes throughout the United States and Latin America.
