Man Found Dead In Marshy Area OAKLAND, July 12 1947
Found dead in a marshy area after a four-day search, Steve Stanya, 53,
a native of Czechoslovakia, was buried yesterday in ' Fairview Cemetery. Rev. George W. Skipper, pastor of
St. Peter's Catholic Church, conducted services. ' Authorities said the body was discovered face downward near
the home of Paul DelSignore, about two miles from. Table Rock, with whom he had resided almost a year, on Monday.
Death was caused by asphyxiation, according to Dr. E. i. Baumgartner, deputy county medical examiner, who
investigated with Sheriff J. S. Teats.
Mr. Stanya had been a resident of this country a number of years. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Agnes (Mellow) Stanya,
Cleveland.Ohio; and 12 children, Mike, Roselyn, Andrew, Betty, Ruth, Sarah and Alaine Stanya, all of Cleveland;
Steve Stanya, Jr., Sharpsburg, Pa.; Mrs. Mary Starna, New York; John Stanya, of Pennsylvania; Agnes Stanya, Pittsburgh;
and George Stanya, near Gormania, W. Va.
