Ms. Alene McDonald, 408 Cherry Street, Fayetteville, died Saturday (April 11, 1998) at her daughter's home in Smyrna. She was 84. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Cordie Hickman McDonald. She was employed by Serbin for many years and did volunteer work with the Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Eslick, and by infant children, James N. Eslick, who died at the age of four, and by William H. Eslick, who died at the age of seven months. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by several children, Peggy Eslick Goodrich and Jacqueline Eslick, both of _______, Polly Eslick Jeter and _______ Eslick Shull, both of _______, Gloria Eslick and ______ Eslick, both of Atlanta, Georgia, _______ Eslick Jackson, Marie Eslick, Arthur Dean Eslick, and Bobby Eslick, all of Cleveland, Ohio, ______ Eslick Patterson of Smyrna; one sister, Katie McDonald ________; one brother, Ray McDonald; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one step-________, Mable Frances Eslick; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, as well as some very good neighbors. Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Hill officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant View Cemetery. Her grandsons served as pallbearers, and her granddaughters served as honorary pallbearers. Howard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
