GREENSBORO - Ford Dean Little, Jr. died Friday, January 15 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Ford was born on January 17, 1925 in Commerce, Georgia. He was the son of the late Ford D. Little Sr. and Imogene Nix Little.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Moore Little, and his children by his late wife, Betty Yost Little: Patricia Little Litchfield and husband William, Washington, N.C.; Jean Little Trott and husband William, Raleigh; and Ford Dean Little III and wife Kathleen; Greensboro. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joe and wife Missy Pollock of Charlotte, N.C., Elizabeth and Will Trott of Raleigh, and Ford Dean Little IV of Greensboro and a several step grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother Robert Little and wife Betty of Greensboro, step-children, Alan Moore and wife Beverly of Winston-Salem and Christopher Moore and wife Ruth Nielsen of Seattle, Washington. His sister-in-law, Mildred Yost Rives and brother-in-law Eddie Yost and wife Leigh of Greensboro and step-brother and sister-in-law, William Hooke and wife Nancy of Chapel Hill, N.C. and step- sister-in-law Annis Hooke.

Although born in Georgia, Ford lived most of his life in Greensboro. He graduated from Greensboro Senior High School and Davidson College where he played on their golf team. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at the Greensboro Country Club. After entering Davidson College his education was interrupted by World War II. He was sent 3 days after D- Day to France where he was a tank commander under General Patton into Germany and later Czechoslovakia. He was injured in the war and spent time in a hospital before rejoining his tank command in Eastern Europe. He was later awarded the Bronze Star. Returning to Greensboro after the war he married Betty and they moved to Davidson where he finished his degree. Upon graduation they returned to Greensboro and he joined his father-in-laws real estate business, which then became Yost and Little Realty and remained there until his retirement in 1990.

Ford was active in many areas in the community including being a Deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian Church, Board member of Greensboro Country Club, and Head of the Greensboro Supplemental Retirement Fund for the city Fireman for 50 years. He also was President of the Greensboro Regional Realtors Association, VicePresident/Treasurer of North Carolina Association of Realtors, Greensboro Zoning Commission, a member of the Southern Seniors Golf Association and Greensboro Kiwanis Club.

After he lost his beloved first wife, Betty Little, he moved to Well Spring Retirement Home where he rekindled a friendship with Janice Moore, the wife of one of his good golfing friends, Kirby Moore, who was deceased. They were married almost 7 years ago in a family wedding at their church and had several happy years together before his illness.
