Janice was married to the late Kirby Moore for 47 years and is survived by their two sons: Alan Moore and wife Beverly of Winston-Salem, NC, and Chris Moore and wife Ruth Nielsen of Seattle, WA. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Lucy Moore (Harald Fuller-Bennett) of Takoma Park, MD; Claire Thurman-Moore (Steph) of Bellingham, WA; and Kirby Moore of Winston-Salem, NC.
Later in life, Janice married the late Ford Little and is survived by his children: Patricia Litchfield and husband William of Washington, NC; Jean Trott and husband William of Raleigh, NC; and Dean Little and wife Kathleen of Greensboro, NC. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Joe Pollock (Missy) of Charlotte; Elizabeth and Will Trott of Raleigh, Ford Dean Little IV of Greensboro, and Nicole Sullivan LaRose (Jonathan) of Charleston, SC. Janice was predeceased by her brothers and their wives: Dr. Robert Hooke and his wife Annis, and Dr. Bill Hooke and his wife Nancy.
Janice was a member of the Junior League of Greensboro and the First Presbyterian Church. She was an active volunteer with a group from First Presbyterian, Holy Trinity and Temple Emanuel that started one of the first after-school programs in the city. Her activities included supervising swimming at the Hayes-Taylor YMCA, taking the students on field trips to the zoo and Morehead Planetarium, and tutoring students in reading. For almost 30 years, Janice continued to volunteer as a reading tutor at several schools. Even after moving to Well-Spring, she was a volunteer tutor to students at Summerfield Elementary School and to adults in a literacy program, teaching English as a second language. Janice served as president of Well-Spring's Residents' Council during its fifth year of operation.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Well-Spring for the kind and expert care they gave Janice over the years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. in Richardson Auditorium, Well-Spring Retirement Community, 4100 Well-Spring Dr., Greensboro, NC.
