Miss Able, Ex-Winthop Teacher, 84
St Matthews--Miss Lora B Able, 84, of St Matthews, died at 2 pm Monday at the Manning Hospital. She was in failing health for several years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 5 pm Tuesday from First Baptist Church by the Rev Wallace M Taylor. Burial will be in West End Cemetery.
Miss Able was born in Lexington County, a duaghter of the late Dr Robert Able and Elizabeth Rish Able and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was a graduate of Winthrop College and taught there 10 years before going to Milledgeville, Ga, where she taught at the Georgia Normal College for another 10 years. She operated a dress shop in St Matthews for a number of years.
Survivors include two nieces, Mrs Bettis Herlong, Sr, of Columbia and two nephews, Lawrence M Able of St Matthews and Guy Able of Saluda, and a sister in law, Mrs Albert S Able of Charleston.
